Winter Field Day 2025
Join us for Winter Field Day at McSweeney Park January 25th from 9:00am to 3:pm.
This year, we will be participating in the Winter Field Day exercise for the first time.
We will be ordering prepared sub sandwiches. As always we need to know who will be eating at the event. Unfortunately exact pricing has not been established but it should fall between $5-10. Please let us know during role call tonight how many meal tickets you will be wanting so that get the food order right. We also have a great event logo that will be available on a shirt and maybe a button. Please let Karen know during the net tonight if you are interested in a 2025 Winter Field Day shirt or button. The order will be placed this week in hopes to have them in time.
Winter Field Day Exercise is not a contest but a practical field exercise designed to push your emergency preparedness skills to the limit and test your capabilities in diverse and demanding conditions. By setting up a station away from the comforts of home, you can significantly enhance your readiness for disasters and improve your operating skills in challenging environments.
The lessons learned during Winter Field Day and the ability to adapt and overcome sudden obstacles can be invaluable during unexpected emergencies. We aim to boost your confidence and make you a better operator during adverse conditions.
Bands: All Amateur bands may be used except 12, 17, 30, and 60 meters. To qualify as a band worked, at least one valid, two-way QSO must have taken place on the said band during the event.

Man made or natural disasters of big enough scope can overwhelm our normal lines of communication. Land lines, cell systems and the internet may be gone or unreliable. It may take days or weeks to bring in the infrastructure necessary to restore communications. This is where ARES can provide vital communications resources for the responders and the public.
Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL® or any other local or national organization, is eligible to apply for membership in ARES.
Our hobby is based on the desire to communicate, and the use of technology to do so. Why not put that to good use by serving your community in times of need.
