“ARES Simplex Training/Exercise Outline for 2023”
“Mission Statement:

• Conduct train-up to prepare ARES members/guest for a simplex drill to include drill planning, radio/equipment configuration, specific information collection process (matrices), use of What3Words and use of ICS 214 Activity Log.
  Training Objects:
• Instructor will provide ICS 201 Incident Action Plan and ICS 205 Communication Plan to help participants become familiar with these basic documents.
• Instructor will provide ICS 214 Activity Log to include instruction specific to exercise and will request either an E-copy or a photo image of a legible copy.
• Participants will provide their location using the What3Words location format.
• Participants will provide matrix of their results
• Follow-up training”

What is Field Day

2023 Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill, and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933 and remains the most popular event in ham radio. ARRL Field Day is always held on the 4th full weekend in June.
