Due to the Fairview fire we conducted an emergency Net last night and part of today, sharing information about the fire. I’d like to thank the hams that provided great information. I think overall provided some peace of mind to people during a very chaotic situation. Some of our members were evacuated last night it was frankly a pretty scary situation for a lot of people.
To those who lost property and especially to those who lost loved ones we are praying for you. It’s times like this that we need to do what we can for each other. I was really proud of our little Valley last night and I hope some of you were too. And of course to our emergency responders that went out in the heat and fought this dangerous fire. Thank you! Our community thinks you what you do is amazing. So please everybody stay safe stay informed and stay hydrated.
As you know we’ve been working on our Internet presence. We’re building a revamp website with some new features as well as a new Facebook presence. We’ve also purchased two domains appropriate for the club to own. They are k6ldf.com and ldarc.org.
If you go to either of those domains now they will take you to our current live website.
The URL or location for our current website has not changed these are just additional domains that we felt the club should have and are functioning currently. And as we mentioned last week you say it is under construction so feel free to take a look at k6ldf.weservu.net. Take a look and please reach out to me with any feedback good bad or indifferent it will be much appreciated.
With better feedback from our members, we can utilize our time and resources where they are best spent. I hope to make our new site part of an overall more engaging and prosperous radio club. After all this club is for all of us.
We have also been discussing the best venue for our Christmas dinner party. Those of you planning to attend dinner have been hearing from members about their preference and why. Karen is heading the dinner committee. Thank you Karen.
KN6SOG & KN6UNL as well as myself have volunteered. Thank you Marcos and Charlie. If I missed anyone else please let me know. We need at least 2 more volunteers for the colonial to be a viable option. So if you can set up and clean up for Christmas dinner please raise your hand during roll call.
Please feel free to express your opinion regarding dinner venue preferences or thoughts you may have.
Be ready to vote and make your decision at our next club meeting.
I’m hoping very little discussion will be necessary. Our speaker Bob Brehm, AK6R has a presentation that is most of an hour. Bob is an expert on all types of radio noise and how to effectively combat it. He will be talking about issues that affect many of our members and I he think will be of interest to many. Hopefully we’ll have time for a lot of questions that, I know we will have for Bob. So if possible please make your dinner choice ahead of time so we can get the maximum benefit from this speaker. This is also my first speaker booking as VP. I’ll try my hand at running the meeting that night.
It’s is all going to be at our club meeting 21 September at the clubhouse. I hope to see a great turn out for what I hope will be a fun informative and productive meeting. As you can see a lot is going on and it’s particularly important that we all participate in our nets and attend our meetings during this time of activity. Don’t forget to give Karen Money at meeting. It was her birthday last week and mama needs a new pair fuzzy dice and some chrome hub caps. No really, we need to sell more raffle tickets for 991a, and other prizes like maybe a pistar made be me. So get out there and buy raffle tickets like there is no tomorrow and maybe there will be a shiny new 991a in your swimming pool! Only that a stupid place for it so read the manual.
Please let your opinions be heard tonight and going forward this year. 73
