Saturday, October 29 you’re all invited to join us at Cajon Pass. It’s on the I-15 between San Bernardino and Victorville. There, we’ll have an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company, some photography, video, trains (3 to 6 per hour), and explore the many trails. Union Pacific and BNSF main lines go through there. It’s a nice open valley, great for radio communications. We can spread out explore the trails and use our radios. I’ll also I’ll also be flying my drone and doing some summit HF. I know this area quite well and look forward to sharing it with you.  This is the first of all I hope will be a couple field trips for a year. Please reach out to me if you are interested in joining us. Bring friends and family. Club membership is not required. Off road capability is required for full access. More information is available on our website and in upcoming announcements.

There are club announcements every week. Unfortunately not every member hears them. Our new website has our weekly announcements, as well as notes and reference links for all of our nets. All of this year’s newsletters and much more. It’s all at k6ldf.com.

I’d also like to make a clarification on what is happening with our old website, the new site and our multiple domains. k6ldf.com is where you will find our new website. ldradioclub.com is our official publicized domain. Our old website is currently at ldradioclub.com. In the next few days ldradioclub.com will also point to the new site. At that time k6ldf.com and ldradioclub.com will both point to the new site.

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback and patience during this transition. Please feel free to reach out to either myself or Duane with any feedback or questions.

Tonight‘s Eagle net will include one of our new, “bands and modes” exercises. After a half hour or so of the normal eagle net activity at 28.360 Mhz USB, general class or better participants will be invited to QSY to 40M 7.238 MHz LSB. It’s a great way to learn when to use other modes and bands, as well as equipment capability and operation. We hope to hear you tonight, at 8 PM, for the Eagle Net. Then around 8:30 QSY to 40M, 7.238 MHz LSB.
There’s a link on the new site, right above the Summer Field Day video.

Look for the “What Bands & Modes would you be interested in trying?” link for more info and a opportunity to indicate the exercises you are interested in.

Our nominating committee has sent email to all members with email listings in our DB, and called most of you. Those not yet called should here from someone by this weekend. Please reach out to Richard, Karen or Marcos if you weren’t contacted, or have any questions. Please be sure to thank them for their hard work. Nominations will be accepted prior to, and at next week’s club meeting. After that, write ins can be added to the ballot, and if elected would be contingent on that person’s acceptance.

Our monthly board meeting will be next Wednesday, October 19th 5PM, at the Colonial Country Club. Then at 6:30 PM don’t miss our monthly club meeting, also at the Colonial Country Club. We’ll be voting on changes to the constitution, and hearing nominations for Novembers election. Please make every effort to attend. Thank You for your time.
