KE6JGM gave me this antenna without the ground plane. The first time I used it, fortunately, was with the 991a and with swr indicated. After a brief gasp I stopped transmitting and switched out the antenna. I forget what the swr was but it was no good. And kind of all over the place.
Later I was looking at it, and it had corrosion in some concerning places. I took a wire brush to it and got it looking pretty good. KN6UNL loaned me a 2m pl259 ground plane kit. This antenna had the distinction of being pl259 (I generally use NMO). You’ll also notice the PL259 to NMO adapter below the ground plane.
This was the outcome:
Tested with BF-F8HP
It’s now connected to a hotspot.
This is a great antenna! Thank you Bob.
